Creative Scrapbooker Carnival of fun!

Wow, two days of a scrapbooking therapy was great!  It was great fun with some wonderful company in the Scrap Squad!  Check out our squad above and I’ll put a plug in for the awesome @kaezmum on Youtube!  I can only hope to be as awesome as her someday in the online world!

I didn’t get as much actual scrapbooking done as I had hoped and planned for, but you have to just go with it and see were the creative juices take you… I started off Saturday with completing a small album I created in a class at the Crop & Create retreat back in March hosted by Scrapbook and Cards Magazine, which was held at the Carriage House Inn in Calgary.  I attended a class by Vicki Boutin and we made a super cute Simple Stories album about family and I decided then that I was going to use it for our summer family trip, so that was #1 on my to-do list.  I put in all the pictures and felt accomplished.  I still need to do some journaling but I can do that some eve in front of the TV.

I also attended a class this year, which I have never done before.  I had signed up for an art journalling class (yes, I’m still researching and studying up on starting to art journal) with Christy Riopel.  Sadly, as many of you already know, Christy passed away so an alternative class option was made available to those of us registered.  Cathie Allan taught us an awesome class using pigment inks and we made an wall-hanging decor piece.  It was a great review for me as I hadn’t used many of those kinds of inks in a long time and I also think it’s been almost 2 years since I did any heat embossing (which I intend to do in one of my upcoming Christmas classes) so that was a great refresher and we created a super gorgeous product.  That being said, doing a class was making the choice to give up 2.5 hours of the crop that took me away from scrapbooking.

So Saturday I went full-tilt to get some pages done and I completed a double page layout of our extreme weather in June, the infamous June 28th hail storm.  I also managed to get another page done of my girls on their first trip to the Science Centre.  I wrapped up the day by starting a small album for a Christmas gift that I won’t share the info on, in case someone reads it and learns their present 🙂

The hail storm creation –

Heading to the carnival!!! (not the one with cotton candy, a scrapbookers dream of a carnival!)

Tomorrow you will find me enjoying every moment as a scrapbooker at the annual Scrapbook Carnival hosted by Creative Scrapbooker Magazine at Spruce Meadows in Calgary.  I’m not the Stampin Up demo there, just a participant like everyone else and I really get to dive into my work and let it envelope me for the next 2 days.  I’ve been going for several years and it’s always an amazing time of creative fun, shopping and laughs with some awesome ladies, some of the craftiest I know!

Follow me on facebook for photos and updates over the next two days!  I will share my goodie bag and my shopping finds next week, as well as any layouts that the creative juices put together over the two days.

I’m packed and ready to go, and quite proud of myself, I have packed lighter than I have ever before (it helped that I pretty much packed all week and was able to repack numerous times)!  Super excited! Is it Friday yet?  No, because tonight is the Grey’s Anatomy premiere first!! Could this get any better??? Happy scrapping, Everyone!

Scrapbook Carnival 2016, here I come!

The countdown is on! I’m headed, along with many of my like-minded, memory-keeping friends, to the annual Scrapbook Carnival hosted by Creative Scrapbooker magazine!! The event is two days running Friday and Saturday at Spruce Meadows in south Calgary.  It is a part of the Creative Stitches Quilting Expo.

I look forward to this weekend, as it’s when I scrapbook most of our events and travels since the spring, including our summer family vacation.  The photo shows my piles of photos as I am planning and organizing to make as much effort as I can to pack as light as possible!!  (I’m never very good at that).

Another aspect that we all get excited about is the vendors!! There will be businesses from all over western Canada that are involved with the scrapbooking industry.  Given that Calgary only has about two scrapbooking stores (and Edmonton has oodles!!) we get pretty excited about the shopping (and all in one place!).

Have you ever been to a two day crop? or an overnight crop? even know what a crop is? Basically, we will sit down over the two days and scrapbook (or card-make, or create art of your choice) none-stop!  Registration includes a goodie bag and usually prizes or surprises!  Also, there is a layout contest and other fun games!  You know I will have photos of the fun to share next week… stay tuned!

Welcome to ‘Your Stampin Scrapbooker’ Blog!!

Wow, I’m excited about this, and a bit nervous!! I have blogged before when I took a social media course a couple of years ago but this type of blogging has been calling my name for a while!!  I love my facebook but want to create a more personal space to share my thoughts and feelings about what I happening in the Stampin With Janley craft room!

Firstly, my new “handle” is “your stampin scrapbooker”!  I researched this as I didn’t want something over done, and yet, my first true love is the scrapbooking so I had to have that in there somewhere.

I have been a Stampin Up demonstrator for just over two years and have had so much fun getting to know the ladies around my area, doing classes and crops together, and sharing a general love over everything crafty.

Recently, as many of my crafty friends know, I have taken a leave of absence to stay home full time with my three girls and, with that, comes more time at home to craft, both with the girls and on my own.  So I cranked up the classes this fall, I’m eager to lead a team and am hoping to share my love of Stampin Up with more and more!

So….here goes!  yourstampinscrapbooker.com is launched!! Please bare with me as I get re-familiarized with the ins and outs and work on it’s general organization.

My goal for this blog is to share what is happening in my craftroom, share some of the amazing work that is out there by demonstrators all over the world, dive into the land of creating videos (yes, I said it!) and start to sell my classes in the form of a kit that you can order online and complete in the comfort of your own home!!

Yes, that sounds ambitious, but, aim high, right?

So for now, your stampin scrapbooker will be blogging and getting ready to work on my to-do list of goals!  Would love to hear from you all what your thoughts are on my goals and any comments you’d like to share. janleygrant@hotmail.com
