Happy Stamping!

Oh, happy day!

Haven’t been feeling well, again, this time with a sore throat and just quite tired and sluggish… So if these 2 favourites arriving today can’t cheer me up, nothing can!! Fed Ex brings the 30 minutes of fun, Paper Pumpkin, in the orange box and things are looking up… then, I realized via email and social media (before going to the mailbox) that the new issue of Creative Scrapbooker magazine should be waiting for me!!

IMG_2999.JPG

Also, this is another extra exciting issue for me, since, if you look carefully, you will see my name in lights TWO times in this issue!! and for cards this time, a first for me as I’ve been published in this magazine several times over the past years but always for scrapbooking layouts, so this is a fun first!! If you’ve never purchased a Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, it’s so amazing!! They have recently as just last year expanded into the United States where you can purchase it at Barns and Noble.  Here in Canada you can find it on the shelves at Shoppers Drub Mart, usually Michaels (for a while) and maybe Chapters… that being said, since I have subscription I don’t pay too much attention but I know for sure you can get it at Shoppers Drug Mart as I saw the last issue on the shelves there recently.

Don’t forget, Paper Pumpkin is on sale for Sale a bration!! and you get Sale a bration freebies with your prepaid purchase of the kit!

Happy Stamping!

YouTube is a go!

I consider myself fairly tech savy, that being said, this YouTube business has been fairly painful. I mean, millions of people are uploading all the time, how hard can it be?

First it was the memory on my phone, okay, that’s my problem, keep the photos synced and delete videos as they are save, etc.  I can manage that.  Then when I filmed landscape the video would post sideways, you can only imagine the language I was spouting off in my craftroom at this point…..Then the uploading took a couple of hours on the first one I did privately.  My friend said that can be the case. Okay, moving on.  I attempted to upload this Valentine’s video the night before Valentine’s day and here we are a day after Valentine’s and it’s done.  So, let’s just say, I tried uploading from my phone, thinking maybe that would faster, nope, I cancelled that when it appeared it was going no where.  Then I tried again yesterday morning, thinking maybe my Internet is the problem as it appeared it would take 5 plus hours and who knows how much longer…I cancelled that this morning when it still wasn’t done…

So when all else fails, google!  Which resulted in…wait for it… a YouTube video on how to make your upload faster!  I’m sure I did this a while back but didn’t really get any where with it, this time, advice on the first video.  I simply saved the video to my comp desktop and voila, uploaded in 25 minutes!! I’m seriously confused why that matters but whatever, it works!  So after all this frustration and perhaps finally finding a way to get past the pain, I may be inspired to create and give it a go again, maybe today…

So here is my Valentine’s quick and easy creation, after Valentine’s day! lol There’s always next year, right? Or just a card for the love of your life any day!  😉

Please do not be too hard on me, I’ll get better! Thanks for the support, Everyone!

So much to do, where do I start? A look ahead…

These past few weeks have been dedicated to Valentine’s preparations, the busy schedule of 100 days of school and throw in there that I got a head cold for 5 days and needless to say, I felt disorganized and am now just feel motivated to look at where to go from here.

where-do-i-start

Firstly, my water color class will go forward on Wednesday night, after having been postponed due to my daughter being sick (that time of the year, right?) and in a another week, I will do my Wow Z Fold Birthday card class, pretty excited about this one!  Still taking registrations until Tuesday, only $15 for 2 Wow Z fold cards!

I’m doing some soul searching on just how much I want to do be doing.  I do love doing the classes but our schedule is just so busy that I’m struggling to do anything else, which frustrates me a bit.  So, I have decided to take March off from offering classes. There I said it, done.  I had already shared that I will travelling for most of April with my hubby so that month was a no-go anyway.  So after I do this Wow Z Fold card class at the end of this month, I won’t be offering classes again until May.  At that time, I will be offering 2 CLASSES that month using the Cupcakes & Carousels Suite, a double page scrapbook layout class and a card class, stay tuned for dates and be sure to like my facebook page for all the events!

Another reason March is busy is that I have 2 crops scheduled! Woo Hoo! Firstly, the Crop & Fundraiser for Rowan House is coming up on March 11th, still taking registrations until February 15th, so email me asap: janleygrant@hotmail.com or check out the event on facebook!

Secondly, I’m attending the Crop & Create in Calgary on March 24-26 through Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine, yes, 2 and 1/2 days of scrapbooking maddness!  A great time will be had with a great group of ladies!!

So, as you can see, March is an all-about-me paper crafting month!  I’ve already started to prep for it by printing photos and doing a bit of planning in the back of my mind.

So back to where I started, what to do first?  Where do I start?  Here’s by to-do list and a little insight into my craftroom priority list….

  • finish Valentine’s with the girls + clear that stuff away
  • review for water color class
  • review for Wow card class
  • do a final promote of the Rowan House crop
  • Try making a video again – this is a whole other upcoming blog post
  • Work on the mini album for Cara’s bachelorette
  • Work on window boxes for Cara’s wedding in June
  • just play with new stamps I have never opened yet!

and in order to do these things, I’d have to give up some my reading time and my severe addiction to everything Outlander, I’m on book 4 of 8, so addicted!! Diana Gabaldon, book 9 in 2018!…. and can’t wait to go to England and Scotland in April with my hubby!  A true bucket list trip!  Culture, history, explore my roots in the Highlands of Scotland, and so much more!  Then I’ll have so much to scrapbook!!!

If you are a paper crafter and an Outlander fan, would love to hear from you!!  Oh, another idea for an upcoming blog post!! Scrapbooking + Outlander, my loves!

Valentine’s Preparations!

Miss me? I know, it’s been 8 days!!  I had really told myself that I wouldn’t let it go longer than a week but been feeling like garbage, a massive snow storm and today it’s -37 wind chill, I haven’t been feeling overly motivated…other than to plug away on the kids’ Valentine’s since that has a deadline!   Honestly, I’m totally a work under pressure kind of girls (as was the case when yesterday I dug out the iron to iron on Olivia’s badges for Sparks last night, really didn’t feel like it but didn’t want to be “that Mom” that didn’t have it done)….

This month’s Paper Pumpkin is adorable and cute, and a new stamp set that doesn’t disappoint.  Click here to learn more about Paper Pumpkin!

So what was I to do when Stampin Up announced there would not be a refill this year so I would have to come up with other ideas.  I checked out Rachel Tessman (Stamp Your Art Out), or unofficial Stampin Up Paper Pumpkin guru of alternative ideas and she shared to just add a little topper to our 2×8 cellephane bags, great idea, right?  Only thing was that I had left it too late to order them in time but I do have some of the old ones that are bigger, but whatever, it’ll do, right?  I also have some old kids’ bookmarks from my teacher days that I wanted to give Olivia to put in her Valentine’s so the bigger bags are a better fit anyway.  So the Sparks are getting 17 of the Paper Pumpkin bags and her class and the twins will be getting little bags with a Nestle treat and a Happy Valentine’s heart (using this month’s stamp set) on our Sweetheart punch!!!

I’m using an old designer series paper from last year but I think this year’s Falling in Love would be a beautiful pick!  I’m thinking about adding some silver metallic thread to the hearts before I stick them onto the bags (like we did with the gold on the Paper Pumpkin bags), I’m in love with metallic thread these days!

Hope you all have a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
