Can you believe July is almost over already? I’ll be completely honest, I’m ready for some rain and cooler temps but doesn’t look like that’s going to happen anytime soon so might as well enjoy the fun in the sun, take lots of pictures to scrapbook all fall and get crafty in those craft rooms. And, I’ve added time to do a swamp out/reorg of my craft room to that list. Given we are headed out again next week until after the long the weekend to the ranch and the Reno Rodeo of SW Saskatchewan, I’m not sure it will get done until later in August but who knows?
So this summer I also did another first, a class in the summer!! Thanks to my awesome crafty friend (whom should be a demo herself, wink wink) encouraging me to get on the Coffee Cafe suite for a class, that came to be and we had a great night of five ladies making cards with the java theme!!
Here are the cards, followed by instructions for two of them and the links to the products so you can order them yourself!! So curl up with a caffeinated beverage of your choice and enjoy!
Firstly, did a gift card holder card! Perfect and simple for when you need to fire a Tim’s or Starbucks card off to someone with the added personal touch of a handmade card. Credit to Jody Brechbill of the Stampin Queen for the inspiration.

Cards 2 and 3 are quite basic – Matte cardstock and designer series paper adhered together followed by a double wrap of the Stampin Up linen thread (which I adore) for the bow. That is all adhered to your card base and you add your stamped image of choice at the end.
The big finale is the card I had the most fun doing and it pushed me to finally open that texture paste I bought in June and hadn’t touched. I had watched a couple of Stampin Up videos and away I went with creating a card that was inspired by Sarah Fleming of Prepare to Dye Papercrafts. I changed up the color choices a bit and didn’t add sequins, which you totally could but this what my creative juices pulled together. I will also say, this card in the picture is only my second time using the paste on the mask and I can tell you, it’s super easy and you will get better with every try. But always remember, working with pastes and mixed media of any sort, you have to accept you will never make the exact same thing twice. That is what is fun and also scary for some of us that strive to create the same over and over. It really is a fun new product and I’m already feeling the inspiration to try it out for a Christmas card!! Read on for the link to the instructions at my project site.

#Sympathy #cards are those which I try to have on hand for when needed. I mean, the last thing you want to do is have to sit down and concentrate on creating if you are in need of a card for a loss in your or someone else’s life.
A few years ago we had the Swallowtail stamp and it has continued to be a go-to for me for sympathy as well as note cards. It is gorgeous and just has such wow factor. A couple of months ago, I made some sympathy cards with that stamp set as well as the Falling in Love designer series paper from the Occasions 2017 catalogue. I realized yesterday I never did post my final creations. The products used will be listed below and linked to my online store for you to order and have at your door. Of course, those products not currently available will not be listed.
Card 1: Swallowtail in Sweet Sugarplum (in-color 2016-2018)
Card 2: Swallowtail in Crumb Cake
I wanted to share these with you so you can see how easily our current stamp set called Beautiful You can be used to make sympathy cards with an uplifting sentiment. Both cards are very simple, cardstock base, some layered papers, the butterfly (you can insert any stamp of flowers or other that you would see appropriate), a 1 3/4 punch for the sentiment (I used a retired scallop punch but you can use a circle or any of the layering framelits in oval or circle) and of course, the Beautiful You stamp set.
Here is the Beautiful You stamp set, it is great value for money as it is a double stamp pack, comes in two cases.
