Crop for a Cause!..Rowan House Emergency Shelter

REGISTRATION OFFICIALLY OPENS TOMORROW AT 9AM!!

cropforacausebanner.jpgOn March 17, 2018, in Turner Valley, Alberta, a fundraiser crop will be held for a cause that is very important to the Foothills of Alberta.  Years ago there was a larger scale crop held in Okotoks in support of this cause, this current crop is not connected with that group, it was started completely separate and by some great ladies in the Turner Valley area. It was brought to my attention a few years ago, and I was all over supporting this great cause! I have helped a team of volunteers in the area of registrations and donations for the big day, and continue to do so, year after year, and am happy to do so!

What is Rowan House?

Rowan House mission:

Our Mission at the Rowan House Emergency Shelter is to provide crisis intervention, long-term support and education for those affected by family violence in rural communities.

Rowan House is an emergency shelter for women and children serving the Foothills and area.  It is an important resource to the community, not only as a shelter, but also for their prevention education programs.  As a past teacher in High River, the ladies from Rowan House had come to my high school classes to educate our students on the different types of abuse and what a healthy relationship should entail.  They have education programs for all ages and are a valued part of our community.  As a woman, a mom, an educator, I, like many others in our communities, whole-heartedly support this organization and the amazing work they do.

How can you help?

  1. Attend the crop! Contact me to register, click here for the Facebook event with all the details of the day!  Fee $65 for a full day crop, including two meals, make n’takes and prizes.  Registration closes on February 5th, or when you max to capacity, whichever comes first. REGISTRATION OPENS TOMORROW (Monday, January 8th, 2018) AT 9AM!!!
  2. Make a donation!  We would greatly appreciate donations for the draws and/or door prizes to be awarded throughout the day.  If you or your business would like to make a donation, please contact me at 403-618-9949/janleygrant@hotmail.com.  Every little bit helps, thank you so much for helping make this event a success!
  3. Spread the word!  Please share this post, share the Facebook event, and promote the event to your family and friends!  There may be a scrapbooker or crafter you know that would enjoy the day and supporting the cause or a business you know that would like to give back to the community through donation to the event.  Thanks so much!

Rowan House Fundraiser & Crop this weekend!

I can’t believe it’s here!  Firstly, thank you to Barb Ducharme for including me in the process of making this happen each year.  It is a wonderful for an amazing cause and I think we make it better and better each year (toot toot 😉

So today you will find my craft room a disaster!  Between packing, and trying to find things I’ve put in a “safe” place and doing some make n take creating and prepping, you’d find the twins having to colour on the floor because the table is full.

Here’s a hint of what’s to come at my make n take on Saturday!!

Have you heard we have 5 make n takes from several different people?? It’s going to be awesome!! There will be a raffle, door prizes, silent auction, awesome food and wifi!! I’m even bringing my speaker this year so we can have music!! We will try to keep to a variety of music selections. :).

Thank you everyone that has donated, registered and supported in any way.  It looks to be another great event!

So much to do, where do I start? A look ahead…

These past few weeks have been dedicated to Valentine’s preparations, the busy schedule of 100 days of school and throw in there that I got a head cold for 5 days and needless to say, I felt disorganized and am now just feel motivated to look at where to go from here.

where-do-i-start

Firstly, my water color class will go forward on Wednesday night, after having been postponed due to my daughter being sick (that time of the year, right?) and in a another week, I will do my Wow Z Fold Birthday card class, pretty excited about this one!  Still taking registrations until Tuesday, only $15 for 2 Wow Z fold cards!

I’m doing some soul searching on just how much I want to do be doing.  I do love doing the classes but our schedule is just so busy that I’m struggling to do anything else, which frustrates me a bit.  So, I have decided to take March off from offering classes. There I said it, done.  I had already shared that I will travelling for most of April with my hubby so that month was a no-go anyway.  So after I do this Wow Z Fold card class at the end of this month, I won’t be offering classes again until May.  At that time, I will be offering 2 CLASSES that month using the Cupcakes & Carousels Suite, a double page scrapbook layout class and a card class, stay tuned for dates and be sure to like my facebook page for all the events!

Another reason March is busy is that I have 2 crops scheduled! Woo Hoo! Firstly, the Crop & Fundraiser for Rowan House is coming up on March 11th, still taking registrations until February 15th, so email me asap: janleygrant@hotmail.com or check out the event on facebook!

Secondly, I’m attending the Crop & Create in Calgary on March 24-26 through Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine, yes, 2 and 1/2 days of scrapbooking maddness!  A great time will be had with a great group of ladies!!

So, as you can see, March is an all-about-me paper crafting month!  I’ve already started to prep for it by printing photos and doing a bit of planning in the back of my mind.

So back to where I started, what to do first?  Where do I start?  Here’s by to-do list and a little insight into my craftroom priority list….

  • finish Valentine’s with the girls + clear that stuff away
  • review for water color class
  • review for Wow card class
  • do a final promote of the Rowan House crop
  • Try making a video again – this is a whole other upcoming blog post
  • Work on the mini album for Cara’s bachelorette
  • Work on window boxes for Cara’s wedding in June
  • just play with new stamps I have never opened yet!

and in order to do these things, I’d have to give up some my reading time and my severe addiction to everything Outlander, I’m on book 4 of 8, so addicted!! Diana Gabaldon, book 9 in 2018!…. and can’t wait to go to England and Scotland in April with my hubby!  A true bucket list trip!  Culture, history, explore my roots in the Highlands of Scotland, and so much more!  Then I’ll have so much to scrapbook!!!

If you are a paper crafter and an Outlander fan, would love to hear from you!!  Oh, another idea for an upcoming blog post!! Scrapbooking + Outlander, my loves!
