#StampinUp Labels to Love #MerryChristmas Card Class #1

“All I want for Christmas is you!”, yes, Mariah will be belting out her tunes in my house soon enough, especially with snow headed our way tonight…. Okay, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, no, I do not put up my tree until after Remembrance Day and usually my birthday on the 15th, then it’s free game!!! But in the mean time, my Christmas card club starts next week!! For several years I have run a club consisting of 3 classes of 12 cards each for a total of 36 cards completed over 3 nights.  A class at the end of the months of September, October and November so they are done early enough for that that want to send in the mail.

I always plan my classes based around a combination of what inspires me (if it doesn’t, who is coming up with the ideas for the class?) and what I think the ladies that have been coming to my club for years will enjoy.  This year I chose the Label punch with the Labels of Love stamp set to match the punch, the Carols of Christmas bundle, the Christmas sweaters and the Christmas in the Making (I love to color and so do many of my ladies) so there had to be a set where we get to color.  I am loving the new embossing paste so that will get in the mix and I always do some heat embossing in my classes too; there is so much wow factor to heat embossing, it makes anything pop!

For all my event information and to RSVP, please like my Facebook Page!

So where are my three samples for my upcoming class that is this Tuesday.

Watermarked1(2017-09-20-2021).jpg

I have decided that I don’t really like this on the soft suede card stock so I’ve decided to stick with whisper white.

Posts to follow with detail each card with the supplies required for the card.  I’m working on becoming a YouTube sensation (yeah, right!) so once I have that under control I will regularly film as well.  Here is my YouTube channel, click here!!

So as a reward to myself for getting my samples done and all my cutting/prep work, tomorrow I get to pack to head of to a 2 day crop!  On Friday and Saturday you will find me at Spruce Meadows in Calgary at the Scrapbook Carnival hosted by Creative Scrapbooker Magazine.  Watch for a post of all the fun!!

Pick a Pumpkin #Stampin Up Thank You Card

Watermarked1(2017-09-17-1450)

The best creations are those that you don’t plan to do, right?  Well, half true, I did buy this bundle for the girls to play with and most likely use on my Halloween layout and when the need for some thank you cards arose, I found a way to use it!! Thank you cards are definitely the most used in my craft room and I find it weird to give them out if I haven’t made them, just feels off to me.  I needed two cards for the girls to sign and send in the mail so I got started and (as you should always do) make several more in an assembly line!! I took photos of the process, see below.  I am also going to do a video of the creation.

What’s also awesome? I bought this hardwood background stamp last year and had never opened it, what better time, right?  Isn’t it gorgeous?  I am in love for sure!

Here are a few photos of the process, follow this link for the detailed instructions to create the card: https://www.thesearemystamps.com/cards/pick-a-pumpkin-thank-you#

Video HERE! Be kind, I’m new to filming 🙂

Lay out your die cuts to place as you desire on burlap

Adhere Thank you with dimensionals

IMG_4617Use Tombow liquid glue to pumpkin silhouette, use very minimal amount and only to the middle were it will adhere to the burlap.

The final product! Please comment below if you were inspired by the card.  I was inspired by Pinterest but it was definitely a rarity of different ideas that lead me to this creation.  Watermarked1(2017-09-17-1450)

Products used are listed below with direct links to my shop!! Note: I did use a retired burlap so have linked you to the current burlap ribbon, it is not as wide as the one I used, so you would likely need two strips to create the wider look I have on mine.

#Outlander stamps! #droughtlander ends in 2 sleeps! #yourstampinscrapbooker

2 sleeps! I can tell you for us #Outlander fans, months ago we never thought this day would come!! So what am I doing on Sunday? Going to an Outlander season 3 premiere party, of course!  We are heading to the Kilt & Caber in Calgary and I’m just about counting down the hours!

So what is happening in my craft room to get ready?  Well, if you saw in previous posts, it was in the summer I spotted the Outlander stamp set by Kindred Stamps and didn’t have to think too long on making that online purchase!

Digital Scrapbook Paper
Digital Scrapbook Paper

Was a struggle to get them in my hands, between back order and USPS taking it on an adventure and then Canadian customs, weeks and weeks had gone by and I was just about ready to throw in the towel and they arrived!! Ironically, just the day I was down at the post office asking if there was anything they could tell me, which they said they couldn’t, I came home to find them in the box that same day!  I have to say Kindred Stamps was super good about the issue, they were very apologetic and refunded me all myself shipping fees for my inconvenience.  Really appreciate that, thanks, Kindred Stamps!

So what do you make for book readers, a bookmark, of course!! Here are some play by play photos of my creation and even my twins colouring their own Jamie & Claire!

I used whisper white cardstock for the base cut at 8 inches by 2 inches.  I used our current punch the Scalloped Tag Topper, page 206 in the annual catalogue for my bookmark topper.

Next I used a retired designer series paper called Maritime DSP and I just barely had enough.  I cut that at 7 inches by just less than the 2 inches. I adhered it to the card stock bookmark with Snail adhesive.

IMG_4544

IMG_4545

I used the 1 3/4 circle punch for the sentiment in the middle (from a retired stamp set called Going Global), between our cutie Jamie and Claire. I used a retired scallop punch to matte the sentiment. The sentiment is stamped in real red and matted to a real red card stock.

I punched out Jamie and Claire also using a retired tag punch but you can use many different sizes of our framelits in various shapes.  Above you will see the colors I used for them are as follows:

Claire – chocolate chip hair, dress is night of navy and soft suede.

Jamie – cajun craze hair, chocolate chip belt/pants, basic black boots, and baked brown sugar (retired) on the coat.

There are absolutely no rules on colouring these little guys! I just wanted to share because I was keen to get their hair as accurate as possible.  The rest I just kind of winged it and I chose the Night of Navy because it matched the DSP colors which were real red and night of navy. For the bookmark tie at the top, I used a retired vintage lace but I’d recommend our current products of the linen thread or the burlap ribbon.

So here is the finish product!!

JamieClaireBookmarkJHoleha.jpg

What do you think, Outlander fans? Will my fellow fans at the premiere by happy to go home and add this to their #Outlander collection on their bookshelves?

The twins very much enjoyed Jamie and Claire too!
